The Board of Health and Welfare plays a crucial role in steering the Department towards the enhancement and protection of public health and welfare for the citizens of Idaho. As a rulemaking and advisory entity, it has the authority to create, modify, or eliminate rules and standards set by the Department. The Director of the Department holds exclusive executive and administrative powers. The Board consists of seven citizen members appointed by the Governor, with each member representing one of the state's seven geographic regions, and these members have voting rights. Additionally, the Board includes the Department Director, a representative from the Governor's office, and the chairs of relevant committees from the State Health and Welfare committees. Services are available in English and Spanish, with interpreters accessible if needed.
