Idaho consists of seven health districts that work closely with the Department of Health and Welfare and various state and local organizations. Each district has its own board of health appointed by county commissioners and operates independently of state agencies. ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH programs focus on the intersection of human health with the physical environment and local ecosystems, covering areas such as Day Care, Epidemiology (Animal Bites, Food and Water Borne Illness), Food Establishments (Permits, Plan Reviews, Inspections), and Public Pools. The Immunization Registry is a free, voluntary, and confidential service that helps track immunizations for individuals and families. The WIC (WOMEN, INFANTS AND CHILDREN) PROGRAM offers monthly healthy food vouchers, health screenings, nutrition classes, community program information, and individual counseling with registered dietitians. WIC serves pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, infants, and children under five. The WOMEN'S HEALTH CHECK program provides free breast and cervical cancer screenings for eligible women without insurance coverage for these tests, based on specific age and income criteria.
