Due to television's influential nature, it is crucial for adults to assist young children in becoming discerning viewers. Research indicates that when children engage in selective viewing, television can greatly enhance their readiness for school. Idaho Public Television's Ready To Learn initiative not only offers over 56 hours of high-quality educational content weekly but also provides extensive outreach programs to local communities. These programs include complimentary workshops for parents, childcare providers, and early childhood professionals, as well as the distribution of children's books and the PBS Families/para la Familia magazine. The Ready To Learn initiative is supported by a cooperative agreement from the U.S. Department of Education through the Public Broadcasting Service.
