Since infants are unable to communicate their hearing issues, Idaho Sound Beginnings focuses on ensuring that every newborn in Idaho undergoes hearing screening. From the moment of birth, children start to listen, learn, and communicate, and even minor hearing impairments can result in significant delays in language and learning development. All hospitals in Idaho are required to perform hearing screenings on newborns before they are discharged. For babies born outside of hospitals, the Infant Toddler program offers screening services.
