Since infants are unable to communicate hearing difficulties, Idaho Sound Beginnings is committed to offering newborn hearing screenings for every baby born in Idaho. From the moment of birth, children start to listen, learn, and communicate, and even minor hearing impairments can result in significant delays in language and learning development. All hospitals in Idaho conduct newborn hearing screenings prior to discharge, and those born outside of hospital settings can access screenings through local Infant Toddler programs.
