Idaho Sound Beginnings Program - Dhw

Since infants are unable to communicate their hearing difficulties, Idaho Sound Beginnings focuses on ensuring that every newborn in Idaho receives a hearing screening. From the moment of birth, children start to listen, learn, and communicate, and even minor hearing impairments can result in significant delays in language and learning development. All hospitals in Idaho conduct hearing screenings before the newborns are discharged, and those born outside of hospital settings can access screenings through local Infant Toddler programs.
