The Criminal History Unit (CHU) serves as the central repository for background check data collected by the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare (IDHW) from both the FBI and the Idaho Department of Law Enforcement. It carries out all necessary background checks for individuals who interact directly with IDHW clients or are employed in facilities licensed by DHW that cater to children and/or vulnerable adults. Fingerprinting services are available at various locations statewide, accessible via the toll-free number provided. The website allows users to complete background check applications, schedule fingerprinting appointments, check the status of their background checks, and enable employers to verify clearances. Services are offered in English, with interpreters available upon request.
