Shiba (Medicare Info) - Statewide
Community Resource
Acerca de este recurso
The Senior Health Insurance Benefits Advisors (SHIBA) assists Idaho residents on Medicare and their supporters by delivering complimentary, unbiased information about Medicare benefits through workshops, group presentations, and one-on-one counseling. Operated by the Idaho Department of Insurance, SHIBA is Idaho's representative for the federal State Health Insurance Assistance Programs (SHIPs). This initiative is partially funded and governed by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Administration for Community Living (ACL). SHIBA offers Medicare counseling, workshops, and presentations through a statewide network of regional offices, partner organizations, and certified volunteers, accessible via phone, online webinars, and in-person across Idaho. Importantly, SHIBA does not sell any insurance products. Due to COVID-19 concerns affecting seniors and individuals with specific chronic health conditions, services are currently provided only by phone and online until further notice. The toll-free SHIBA Medicare Helpline operates Monday to Friday from 8 am to 5 pm MT and is available in English and Spanish. Intake procedures can be obtained by contacting the service.
