The Boise National Forest covers an area of 2,612,000 acres and is positioned to the north and east of Boise, Idaho. The terrain varies in elevation from 2,600 to 9,800 feet and has been formed through geological activities such as uplifting, faulting, and stream erosion. A significant portion of the forest is located within the Idaho Batholith, which is known for its substantial erosion.
