Vocational Rehabilitation - Boise Regional Office

The Idaho Division of Vocational Rehabilitation operates as a State of Idaho agency under the Idaho State Board of Education, with a primary focus on facilitating employment for individuals with disabilities. They offer tailored vocational guidance and counseling, along with additional services to help clients make informed career choices and secure jobs. The Division oversees two main programs: the Renal Disease Program and the Vocational Rehabilitation Program. The Renal Disease Program includes a state-supported medical assistance initiative that manages the medical and financial needs of clients with end-stage renal disease, considering their financial capacity for service payment. Additionally, it caters to kidney patients who are employable through the Vocational Rehabilitation Program. For individuals with severe mental illness, VR collaborates with the Department of Health and Welfare's Mental Health Program to provide community work opportunities, utilizing a team-based approach through Assertive Community Action (ACT) teams statewide. VR also supports students with disabilities in transitioning from school to work, maintaining partnerships with educational institutions to facilitate this process. Any student can apply directly for services, provided they meet the eligibility criteria. Furthermore, VR is dedicated to assisting migrant seasonal farm workers with disabilities who face challenges in continuing their employment. The Division has also developed a program to help inmates with disabilities reintegrate into society, working closely with the Department of Probation and Parole and medical professionals to ensure successful transitions into the workforce.
