CANYON MENTAL HEALTH - (208) 455-7048/ 455-7049 is part of the Idaho Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, a state agency overseen by the Idaho State Board of Education, with a primary focus on facilitating employment. The Vocational Rehabilitation program offers tailored vocational counseling and guidance, along with various services aimed at helping individuals with disabilities make informed career choices to secure successful employment. The Division manages two key programs: the Renal Disease Program and the Vocational Rehabilitation Program. The Renal Disease Program includes: 1. A state-funded medical assistance initiative that addresses the medical and financial needs of clients suffering from end-stage renal disease, considering their financial capacity for service payments. 2. A program for kidney patients who are able to work, which falls under the Vocational Rehabilitation Program. For individuals with mental illnesses, VR collaborates with the Department of Health and Welfare's Mental Health Program to provide services to those with severe and persistent mental health issues, using a team-based approach to help them integrate into the workforce. Assertive Community Action (ACT) teams are active throughout the state. VR also supports students with disabilities transitioning from school to work, maintaining connections with schools statewide to assist those in need. Students can apply directly for services with a school referral, provided they meet the eligibility criteria for vocational rehabilitation. Additionally, VR is dedicated to aiding migrant seasonal farm workers with disabilities who cannot continue their usual work or require support to maintain their migrant employment. Furthermore, VR actively assists inmates with disabilities in reintegrating into society by developing programs that focus on this demographic. Counselors collaborate with clients, the Department of Probation and Parole, and medical professionals to help them re-enter the workforce, achieving a high success rate and reducing institutional costs while benefiting the community.
