Acerca de este recurso
Head Start is a comprehensive preschool initiative designed for children from families that meet income eligibility criteria. Operated by local nonprofit organizations, school districts, and educational institutions across the nation, the program accepts applications for children aged 3 and 4 years old from families whose income falls below poverty levels. It also accommodates children with special needs or those considered at high risk, including a limited number of over-income children with special needs. The program addresses various needs, including medical, dental, educational, and social services, all provided at no cost. Required documentation includes proof of income, the child's birth certificate, and immunization records. Head Start offers a range of supportive services such as social services, parent involvement initiatives, nutrition programs, mental health support, health and dental care, education, and assistance for disabilities. The program aims to enrich the lives of children, families, staff, and the community, helping families navigate challenges through quality education and family-oriented services. It serves children aged 3-5 from low-income households with a four-day weekly program totaling 16 hours, providing two meals each day. Parental involvement is encouraged through volunteering, and positive parenting classes are available to support educational efforts. Transportation is provided one way, and services are offered in both English and Spanish. For more information, please reach out to the contact provided.
