Vocational Rehabilitation - Pocatello

The Idaho Division of Vocational Rehabilitation operates as a State of Idaho agency under the Idaho State Board of Education, focusing primarily on employment. It offers tailored vocational guidance and counseling, along with other services, to help individuals with disabilities make informed career choices and achieve successful employment. The Division manages two key programs: the Renal Disease Program and the Vocational Rehabilitation Program. For those with renal (kidney) disease, the Division provides a state-supported medical assistance program that addresses the medical and financial needs of clients with end-stage renal disease, considering their ability to pay for services when determining eligibility. Additionally, a program is available for kidney patients who are able to work, served through the Vocational Rehabilitation Program. The Division collaborates with the Department of Health and Welfare's Mental Health Program to assist individuals with severe and persistent mental illness, utilizing a team-based approach to support their integration into the workforce. Assertive Community Action (ACT) teams are established statewide to facilitate this process. Furthermore, VR aids students with disabilities in transitioning from school to employment by maintaining partnerships with educational institutions to help those in need of support. Any student can apply directly for services with a school referral, provided they meet the vocational rehabilitation eligibility criteria. The Division also prioritizes service for migrant seasonal farm workers with disabilities who can no longer perform their usual work or require assistance to continue in migrant employment. Additionally, VR actively supports inmates with disabilities in reintegrating into the community by developing programs focused on this group, working collaboratively with clients, the Department of Probation and Parole, and medical professionals to facilitate their return to the workforce.
