Acerca de este recurso

The Idaho Division of Vocational Rehabilitation operates as a state agency under the Idaho State Board of Education, focusing primarily on employment for individuals with disabilities. It offers tailored vocational guidance and counseling, alongside other resources to empower these individuals to make informed career choices that lead to successful employment. The Division oversees two key programs: the Renal Disease Program and the Vocational Rehabilitation Program. For those with renal disease, the Division provides a state-funded medical assistance program that addresses the medical and financial needs of clients with end-stage renal disease, considering their financial capacity for service payment when determining eligibility. Additionally, kidney patients who are able to work are supported through the Vocational Rehabilitation Program. The Division also collaborates with the Department of Health and Welfare's Mental Health Program to support individuals with severe and persistent mental illnesses, employing a team approach to facilitate their integration into the workforce. Assertive Community Action (ACT) teams operate statewide to assist this demographic. Furthermore, VR aids students with disabilities in transitioning from school to employment, maintaining partnerships with educational institutions to provide necessary support, allowing students to apply directly for services with a school referral, provided they meet the eligibility criteria. The Division is dedicated to serving migrant seasonal farm workers with disabilities who are unable to continue their usual work due to their condition. Additionally, VR has developed a proactive program to assist inmates with disabilities in reintegrating into society, collaborating with clients, the Department of Probation and Parole, and medical professionals to facilitate their return to the workforce. The Division has achieved notable success in rehabilitating individuals, reducing institutional costs, and benefiting the community overall. Any individual with a disability that hinders their ability to work is eligible to apply. Languages offered include English.

Intake Procedure: Reach out to any Regional or Sub-Regional Office to schedule an appointment with a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor.
