Vocational Rehabilitation - Pocatello

The Idaho Division of Vocational Rehabilitation operates under the Idaho State Board of Education and focuses on facilitating employment for individuals with disabilities. It offers personalized vocational counseling and various services to help clients make informed career choices leading to successful job placements. The Division oversees two key programs: the Renal Disease Program and the Vocational Rehabilitation Program. For those with renal (kidney) disease, the Division provides a state-supported medical assistance program that manages medical and financial needs for clients with end-stage renal disease, considering their financial capability for service payments. Additionally, kidney patients who are employable receive support through the Vocational Rehabilitation Program. The Division collaborates with the Department of Health and Welfare's Mental Health Program to assist individuals with severe mental illnesses, focusing on community employment through a team-based approach, including Assertive Community Action (ACT) teams statewide. For students with disabilities transitioning from school to work, VR supports them by maintaining connections with schools and allowing direct applications for services with school referrals, provided they meet eligibility criteria. Moreover, the Division is dedicated to aiding migrant seasonal farm workers with disabilities who cannot continue their usual work or need help to maintain their employment. It also proactively assists inmates with disabilities to reintegrate into society by developing programs that involve collaboration with the Department of Probation and Parole and healthcare professionals, achieving a notable success rate in rehabilitation.
