Acerca de este recurso

The Idaho Division of Vocational Rehabilitation operates under the Idaho State Board of Education with a primary focus on facilitating employment for individuals with disabilities. They offer tailored vocational counseling and various services to empower clients to make informed career decisions leading to successful employment. The Division manages two key programs: the Renal Disease Program and the Vocational Rehabilitation Program. For those with renal (kidney) disease, they provide a state-supported medical assistance program that addresses both medical and financial needs for clients with end-stage renal disease, taking into account their ability to pay. Additionally, there is a program for kidney patients who are able to work, which is part of the Vocational Rehabilitation Program. The Division collaborates with the Department of Health and Welfare's Mental Health Program to support individuals with severe and persistent mental illnesses, employing a team approach to help them gain community employment. Assertive Community Action (ACT) teams are established statewide for this purpose. Furthermore, VR aids students with disabilities in transitioning from school to the workforce, maintaining partnerships with schools to provide necessary support. Students can apply for services directly with a school referral, provided they meet the eligibility criteria for vocational rehabilitation. VR is also dedicated to assisting migrant seasonal farm workers with disabilities who are unable to continue their usual jobs or require help to maintain their employment. Additionally, VR proactively supports inmates with disabilities in reintegrating into the community by developing specialized programs that involve collaboration with the Department of Probation and Parole and medical professionals. The Division has achieved notable success in rehabilitating individuals, resulting in reduced institutional costs and benefits for the community. Anyone with a disability that hinders their ability to work is eligible to apply. Languages: English.
