Vocational Rehabilitation - Pocatello

The Idaho Division of Vocational Rehabilitation is an agency of the State of Idaho under the Idaho State Board of Education, primarily focused on facilitating employment. It offers personalized vocational guidance and counseling, along with additional services to help individuals with disabilities make informed career choices and secure successful employment. The Division oversees two key programs: the Renal Disease Program and the Vocational Rehabilitation Program. For those with renal disease, it provides a state-supported medical assistance program that manages the medical and financial needs of clients with end-stage renal disease, considering their financial capability for service eligibility. Additionally, the Vocational Rehabilitation Program serves kidney patients who are employable. The Division collaborates with the Department of Health and Welfare's Mental Health Program to support individuals with severe mental illnesses, employing a team approach to assist them in gaining community employment through Assertive Community Action (ACT) teams established statewide. VR also aids students with disabilities in transitioning from school to the workforce, maintaining partnerships with schools to provide necessary support, and allowing students to apply directly for services with school referrals, provided they meet the eligibility criteria. Furthermore, VR is dedicated to assisting migrant seasonal farm workers with disabilities who are unable to continue their usual work or require help to maintain their employment. The Division proactively supports inmates with disabilities in reintegrating into the community by developing programs that focus on this group, collaborating with clients, the Department of Probation and Parole, and medical professionals to facilitate their return to the workforce.
