Head Start St. Maries Center (St. Maries)

Head Start is a national preschool initiative aimed at children from income-eligible families, managed by local nonprofit organizations across the country. Applications are accepted for children aged 3 and 4 who meet the poverty guidelines and are 3 or 4 years old by August 31. The program also accommodates children with special needs or those at high risk and may accept a limited number of over-income children with special needs. Services provided include assistance with medical, dental, educational, and social needs, all at no cost. Families must provide verification of income, the child's birthdate, and immunization records. Head Start also offers various supportive services such as social services, parent involvement, nutrition, mental health, health education, and disability support, along with transportation. The program enriches the lives of children, families, staff, and the community, helping families navigate challenges through quality education and family-centered services. It serves low-income children aged 3-5 years and operates a four-day weekly program, providing meals each day and encouraging parental involvement through volunteer opportunities.
