Acerca de este recurso

The Medical Reserve Corps can be reached at 208-239-5208, and the Swine Flu Hotline for Region 6 is available at 208-234-5888. Idaho has seven health districts that work closely with the Department of Health and Welfare and various state and local agencies. Each district, governed by a board of health appointed by county commissioners, operates independently from state agencies and caters to local requirements with a diverse range of services that may differ from one district to another. These services include community health nursing, home health nursing, environmental health, dental hygiene, and nutrition programs, many of which are delivered through contracts with the Department of Health and Welfare. For the most current information about available services in your area, reach out to the nearest District Health Department. The Public Health Preparedness and Communication Systems office collaborates with the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare, other public health districts, healthcare providers, and emergency responders to develop a unified statewide strategy for addressing bioterrorism threats and public health crises. Environmental Health programs address the intersection of human health with the physical environment and ecosystems, covering areas such as Day Care, Epidemiology (including Animal Bites and Foodborne Illness), Food Establishments (including Permits and Inspections), Indoor Air Quality (Radon), Lead Health Program, Methamphetamine Labs, Public Pools, and Solid Waste management. Land Development programs encompass Critical Materials Regulation, Mortgage Surveys, Non-Domestic Waste Water management, Public Water Systems, Rathdrum Aquifer Protection, Shallow Injection Well Inventory, Subdivision Review, and Subsurface Sewage evaluations. Family Planning services offer education, counseling, pregnancy testing, comprehensive physical exams (including cancer and STD screenings), and referrals, with various birth control methods available. Local health departments provide routine childhood vaccinations at clinics, often at low or no cost for those unable to pay, and offer overseas immunizations by appointment. Adult vaccines such as Td boosters, hepatitis A and B, pneumonia, and influenza may also be accessible. The Immunization Registry is a free, confidential service that helps individuals keep track of their vaccination history. The WIC (Women, Infants, and Children) Program provides nutritious foods, health screenings, nutrition education, and referrals for eligible pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, infants, and children under five. The Women's Health Check program offers free breast and cervical cancer screenings for uninsured women who meet specific income and age criteria. For more information, call to inquire about services, locations, and appointments.
