Head Start (Fort Hall) - Shoshone Bannock Tribes

Head Start is a nationwide preschool initiative aimed at children from families that meet income eligibility criteria. Local nonprofit organizations operate Head Start centers across the country, accepting applications for children aged 3 and 5. Eligibility includes families whose income falls below poverty levels, with children required to be 3 years old by September 1. The program also accommodates children with special needs or those considered at high risk, and a limited number of over-income children with special needs may be accepted. Services provided are free and cover medical, dental, educational, and social service needs, requiring verification of income, the child's birth date, and immunization records. Supportive services offered by Head Start include social services, parent involvement, nutrition, mental health, health, education, disabilities, and dental care, along with transportation.
