Fort Hall Indian Health Services

The Not-So-Gah-Nee Health Clinic spans 28,915 square feet and began operations on October 9, 1990. It offers various services including Out-patient Clinic, Dental, Pharmacy, Lab, X-ray, Optometry, Podiatry, Audiology, and Contract Health Services, catering to more than 50,000 patients each year. The clinic's staff comprises 4 Physicians, 1 Physician Assistant, 3 Nurse Practitioners, 4 LPNs, 6 Registered Nurses, 1 Clinical Social Worker, 2 MSWs, 2 BSWs, 1 Nutritionist, 2 Health Educators, 3 Dentists, 1 Dental Hygienist, lab technicians, an Optometrist with a technician, 2 Psychologists, and a Mental Health technician, all of whom are hired through tribal and federal channels (IHS). Tribal Health Programs encompass Health Administration, Maternal and Child Health, Public Health Nurse services, Preventive Health, First Responders, Community Health Representatives (CHR), Counseling & Family Services (CFS), Victims of Crime Assistance (VOCA), Social Services, Elderly Nutrition, Youth Transitional Living Center (YTLC), Recreation, and Chemical Dependency (TCDP). The Indian Health Service (IHS) includes Dental, Environmental Health Services, and Women, Infants & Children programs. The local population served is approximately 6,000. The Tribal Health and Human Services Department proposed the idea of a Wellness Center in their 2000 strategic plan, responding to community requests. In 2006, the Council endorsed a university-conducted feasibility study to evaluate how a Wellness Center could address the community's health needs and disparities, particularly regarding heart disease and diabetes.
