The Public Health Preparedness office (Bioterrorism Planning) collaborates with the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare, other public health districts, healthcare providers, and emergency responders to develop a unified statewide strategy for addressing bioterrorism threats and other public health crises. ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH: This encompasses programs that deal with the intersection of human health, the physical environment, and local ecosystems. **Environmental Health Programs cover: Day Care; Epidemiology (Animal Bites, Food and Water Borne Illness); Food Establishments (Permits, Plan Reviews, Inspections); Public Pools.** Land Development Programs include: Mortgage Surveys; Public Water Systems; Subdivision Review; Subsurface Sewage (Site Evaluations, Permits, Inspections). REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH (Family Planning): Offers Family Planning services that include education, counseling, pregnancy testing, comprehensive physical exams (including cancer and STD screenings), and referrals. The Immunization Registry is a free, voluntary, and confidential service that keeps track of immunizations for you and your family, ensuring timely vaccinations. WIC (WOMEN, INFANTS AND CHILDREN) PROGRAM: WIC is a supplemental nutrition initiative for Women, Infants, and Children, offering healthy foods monthly via WIC vouchers, health screenings, nutrition classes, community program information, and referrals to healthcare providers. Individual counseling with registered dietitians, breastfeeding support, recipes, newsletters, and educational materials are also provided.
