Habitat For Humanity - Idaho Panhandle

Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian organization that collaborates with local communities to construct affordable homes. These homes are then sold to individuals in need without profit and without interest. To qualify as a Habitat Family, applicants must meet certain criteria: their current housing situation must be inadequate and they should not have access to better housing options; they must be spending an excessive portion of their monthly income on housing; their income should align with the HUD annual income guidelines; they need to have lived or worked in Canyon County for at least a year; they must be capable of making zero-interest monthly mortgage payments; they should be ready to contribute 300 to 500 hours of volunteer work, known as 'sweat equity,' before moving in; they must agree to partner with Habitat for Humanity by attending homeownership classes, preparing a family budget before final selection, and providing a $500 down payment prior to the completion of construction; and they should be able to maintain and repair their home. Languages spoken include English.
