The Diabetes Education Program (http://www2.state.id.us/dhw/diabetes/diabetes_home.htm) is part of the Diabetes Control Program, which collaborates with Idaho's health system to mitigate diabetes and its related complications via public and professional education and awareness initiatives, as well as by promoting diabetes care standards. For more information, individuals can call 1-877-214-5433, a Medicare resource for those with diabetes and their support networks. This program is offered at no cost and provides valuable information and resources. Additionally, the Injury Prevention Program, Fit and Fall Proof, focuses on reducing falls among older adults by enhancing lower body strength, balance, and mobility through exercise classes coordinated with local partners. The Oral Health Program, supported by the Maternal and Child Health Title V Block Grant, aims to promote oral health and prevent dental issues through school-based fluoride mouth rinse programs managed by the state's seven district health departments. The Tobacco Prevention, Control, and Cessation Program tackles smoking and spit tobacco use, along with the effects of secondhand smoke, by advocating for behavioral, environmental, and policy changes. The Idaho Tobacco Millennium Funds enable local health departments to offer free cessation classes for pregnant women, youth, and adults. Fit and Fall Proof™ (FFP) is specifically designed for older adults in Idaho to enhance their strength, mobility, and balance, thereby reducing their risk of falls. Services are available in English, and interpreters can be provided upon request.
