Public mental health services are organized into key areas, including Community Crisis Response and assistance for adults with Severe and Persistent Mental Illness (SPMI) or children facing serious emotional disturbances. COMMUNITY CRISIS RESPONSE SERVICES provide immediate intervention for adults in mental health crises, which may involve psychiatric symptoms like self-harm or threats to others. Each Welfare region in Idaho is equipped with a community health center and additional satellite offices offering 24-hour crisis response services, including hotlines, emergency psychiatric evaluations, treatment referrals, and consultations with law enforcement, hospitals, and other social services as needed. SEVERE AND PERSISTENT MENTAL ILLNESS services cater to individuals aged 18 and older who experience the most critical forms of mental illness. Eligible individuals must have a diagnosis of schizophrenia, schizo-affective disorder, major affective disorder, delusional disorder, or borderline personality disorder, which significantly disrupts their functioning in at least two areas. SPMI services encompass screening and referrals, assertive community treatment, crisis intervention, case management, psychiatric/medical services, short-term outpatient therapy, individual and group psychosocial rehabilitation, consultation, education, and community supportive employment. The Mental Health Program is overseen by the Division of Behavior Health, with services available in English and interpreters upon request. Intake Procedure: Call to be screened for eligibility.
