Acerca de este recurso

The Medical Reserve Corps can be reached at 208-415-5180, and the Swine Flu Hotline is available at 208-415-5299. Idaho consists of seven health districts that work closely with the Department of Health and Welfare and other state and local entities. Each district features a health board appointed by the county commissioners and operates independently of state agencies. They address local demands by offering diverse services, which can differ from one district to another. Services include community and home health nursing, environmental health, dental hygiene, and nutrition programs, often provided through contracts with the Department of Health and Welfare. For the most current information about available services in your area, contact your local District Health Department. The Public Health Preparedness and Communication Systems office collaborates with the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare, other public health districts, healthcare providers, and emergency responders to create a coordinated statewide strategy for bioterrorism preparedness and response to public health crises. Environmental Health programs tackle issues that connect human health with the physical environment and local ecosystems. These programs cover areas such as daycare, epidemiology (animal bites, food and waterborne illnesses), food establishment permits and inspections, indoor air quality (including radon), lead health, methamphetamine labs, public pools, and solid waste management. Land Development initiatives include critical materials regulation, mortgage surveys, non-domestic wastewater management, public water systems, Rathdrum Aquifer protection, shallow injection well inventory, subdivision review, and subsurface sewage evaluations. Family Planning services encompass education, counseling, pregnancy testing, comprehensive physical exams (including cancer and STD screenings), and referrals, with a variety of birth control methods available. Community presentations with educational materials can be arranged upon request. Local health departments offer routine childhood vaccinations at health department clinics or special off-site events, often at little to no cost for families in need. Overseas immunizations are available by appointment, and travelers should contact their local health department for required vaccines. Adult vaccines, including Td boosters, hepatitis B, hepatitis A, pneumonia, and influenza, may also be offered. The Immunization Registry is a free, voluntary, and confidential service that helps track immunizations for individuals and their healthcare providers. The WIC (Women, Infants, and Children) Program provides healthy food vouchers, health screenings, nutrition classes, community program information, individual counseling with registered dietitians, breastfeeding support, and educational materials. WIC serves pregnant women, breastfeeding women (up to one year postpartum), infants under one year, and children under five. The Women’s Health Check program, funded federally, offers free breast and cervical cancer screenings to eligible women without insurance coverage for these tests, who meet income guidelines, and fall within specific age ranges or conditions. Languages available include English, with interpreters accessible. For general information, locations, and appointments, please call.
