The Seasonal Head Start program is available from May to October, coinciding with the harvesting season, and operates for twelve hours each day, typically from 5:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The center offers complimentary transportation for children, along with two meals and two snacks daily, as well as free preventative health, dental, developmental, and speech screenings. The educational focus is primarily in the children's first language, with a significant portion of participants being of Hispanic heritage. Head Start is a nationwide initiative aimed at preschool-aged children from low-income families, managed by local nonprofit organizations across the country. Applications are accepted for children aged 0-5, including those with special needs or at high risk, and a limited number of over-income children with special needs may also be accepted. The program addresses medical, dental, educational, and social service needs at no cost. Required documentation includes proof of income, the child's birthdate, and immunization records. Supportive services include social services, parent involvement, nutrition, mental health, health education, disability services, and dental care, all designed to enrich the lives of children, families, staff, and the community. The program runs five days a week for 12 hours, providing four meals each day, and encourages parental involvement through volunteer opportunities and positive parenting classes.
