Fraud Investigations - Region 3

The Welfare Fraud Investigation Unit is responsible for investigating clients and non-Medicaid providers who obtain public assistance funds as either clients or service providers. These investigations often begin due to complaints from the public or program staff and may result in discovering overpayments, intentional violations of program rules, or legal action. To report suspected fraud, you can choose from several options: Online by visiting the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare's website and going to the 'Report Fraud' section; by phone at the Public Assistance Fraud Hotline at 866-935-7515, where calls are answered by the 2-1-1 Idaho CareLine from Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. (Mountain Time), with after-hours calls going to voicemail; or via email at Questions@dhw.idaho.gov.
