Head Start (Orofino) - Orofino Cent

Head Start is a national preschool initiative designed for children from families that meet income eligibility requirements. Local nonprofit organizations operate Head Start centers across the country, accepting applications for children aged 0 to 5 years. Families must have incomes that fall below poverty guidelines, although a limited number of children with special needs or at high risk may be accepted even if their families exceed this threshold. The program addresses various needs, including medical, dental, educational, and social services, all at no cost. Required documentation includes proof of income, the child's birth date, and immunization records. Head Start provides a range of supportive services such as social services, parent involvement, nutrition, mental health, health education, disability support, dental care, and transportation. The program aims to enhance the lives of children, families, staff, and the community, helping families navigate challenges through quality education and family-centered services. Each week, children attend five days and receive four meals daily, while parents are encouraged to participate as volunteers.
