You can request applications either in person or by phone, but they must be submitted in writing. To receive an application packet by mail, contact the 2-1-1 Idaho CareLine at 2-1-1 or 1-800-926-2588. The Self-Reliance programs encompass several types of assistance: **Cash Assistance (TAFI, Temporary Assistance for Families in Idaho)** offers financial support to low-income families with children, with adults facing a 24-month lifetime cap. To qualify, adult participants must actively seek employment, education, or training. Pregnant women without other children may only qualify for TAFI if they are in their last trimester and have a medical condition that prevents them from working. Unmarried minors with children must reside with their parents unless there is a valid reason otherwise. **Food Stamps** supply essential food benefits to low-income households, promoting health and nutrition while stabilizing labor markets. **Child Care** assistance is provided through the Idaho Child Care Program (ICCP), which helps subsidize child care costs for low-income families who are working, job-seeking, or engaged in training or educational programs. Eligible families will be connected to licensed childcare providers through the ICCP referral program. **Idaho Medicaid Benefit Plans** offer various health benefits tailored to individual needs. The plans include: - **Medicaid Basic Plan**, designed for healthy low-income children and adults with dependents, offering comprehensive health and wellness benefits. Most Medicaid participants are enrolled in this plan. - **Medicaid Enhanced Plan**, which caters to individuals with disabilities or special health needs, providing all Basic Plan benefits plus additional services. Existing programs remain active post-July 2006, including the **Pregnant Women and Children (PWC)** plan for qualifying women and the **Qualified Medicare Beneficiary Plan (QMB)**, which is limited to Medicare-covered services. **The Children's Access Card** assists eligible children with premium costs, offering up to $100 monthly or $300 for families with three or more children. **Aid to the Aged, Blind, and Disabled (AABD)** provides cash and medical support to low-income Idahoans aged 65 or older, or those who are blind or disabled (disability verification is required). **Telephone Assistance** aids the elderly, low-income, or disabled individuals in covering installation and monthly service costs. Applications can be completed at local Health and Welfare offices or Community Action Agencies. **Emergency Assistance (EA)** offers support for individuals with children in need of work-related services, including tools and transportation costs. **Quest Card/EBT (Electronic Benefits Transfer)** is used for Food Stamps and Welfare Cash Payments. The Self-Reliance Program is managed by the Division of Welfare and services are available in English and Spanish.
Intake Procedure: Applications can be requested by phone or in person, but must be submitted in writing.
