Head Start (N Idaho College - Central Office)

Head Start is a nationwide preschool initiative aimed at children from families that meet income eligibility criteria. Local nonprofit organizations manage Head Start centers throughout the United States. Applications are open for children who are 3 or 4 years old by August 31. Families must have incomes below poverty guidelines, and the program also accommodates children with special needs or those at high risk. A limited number of over-income children with special needs may also be accepted. Services provided include assistance with medical, dental, educational, and social needs, all at no cost. Required documentation includes proof of income, the child's birthdate, and immunization records. Head Start offers various supportive services such as social services, parent involvement, nutrition, mental health, health, education, disabilities, and dental care.
