North Idaho Memory Clinic

The Memory Clinic employs a collaborative strategy for diagnosing and addressing memory-related issues, providing assistance and educational resources to help individuals live as independently as possible. To begin the process, a referral from a physician is necessary. The team includes an occupational therapist who evaluates daily living skills, safety, and cognitive/perceptual abilities; a social service therapist who assesses for depression, anxiety, and social support; as well as a physician and nurse practitioner who screen for impairments in hearing, vision, and other medical conditions that may affect memory. Additionally, a speech pathologist evaluates communication and cognitive abilities. Follow-up visits with the team may lead to recommendations for further evaluations or treatments. A free clinic is available on Wednesdays from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM for a mini-mental exam. Services may be covered by Medicare/Medicaid and some HMO plans, with social service pre-screening all insurance plans before scheduling. There may be a waiting period to see the doctor.
