Victim Services Unit

This program offers round-the-clock crisis intervention and crime scene assistance aimed at advocating for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault or abuse. It includes support groups, information, and referrals to community resources, as well as help in obtaining protection orders for victims. The initiative employs a collaborative approach between law enforcement and victim service advocates to deliver immediate and direct support to those affected by domestic violence, sexual assault, and child abuse. While it serves all crime victims, the primary focus is on domestic violence and sexual assault cases. Two full-time crime victim advocates are available 24/7 to respond alongside officers at crime scenes, providing urgent assistance. Ongoing support may encompass shelter, referrals to community resources, and help with medical, court, and prosecution processes. The Post Falls program is recognized as a model for law enforcement and victim services. Spanish language support is also offered. Intake procedures can be initiated by contacting the program.
