Head Start (Moscow)-Lewis-Clark Early Childhood Program

Head Start is a nationwide preschool initiative aimed at children from families that meet income eligibility requirements. Local nonprofit organizations operate Head Start centers across the country. Applications are accepted for children aged 3 to 5 years. Families must have incomes below poverty guidelines, although a limited number of children from slightly higher income levels may also be accepted. The program caters to children with special needs or those considered at high risk. Services provided are free and include assistance with medical, dental, educational, and social service needs. Required documentation includes proof of income, the child's date of birth, and immunization records. Head Start Supportive Services encompass social services, parent involvement, nutrition, mental health, health, education, disabilities, dental care, and transportation. The Lewis-Clark Early Childhood Program - Moscow Center enhances the lives of children, families, staff, and the community, providing quality education and family-focused services. They accept children aged 3-5 from low-income families and operate a four-day program each week, providing two meals daily for the children. Parents are encouraged to volunteer and can also benefit from positive parenting classes offered by the program. Services are provided in English.
