These services may include community health nursing, home health care, environmental health, dental hygiene, and nutrition programs, often facilitated through contracts with the Department of Health and Welfare. Additionally, the Public Health Preparedness and Communication Systems office collaborates with the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare and other public health entities to develop a comprehensive statewide strategy for addressing bioterrorism threats and public health emergencies. Environmental health initiatives focus on the intersection of human health with the physical environment, covering areas such as daycare, epidemiology, food establishments, indoor air quality, lead health, methamphetamine labs, public pools, and solid waste management. Land development programs include regulations on critical materials, mortgage surveys, non-domestic wastewater, public water systems, aquifer protection, and sewage evaluations. Family planning services encompass education, counseling, pregnancy testing, physical exams, and referrals, while immunization clinics offer routine childhood vaccinations and adult vaccines at low or no cost. The WIC program supports women, infants, and children with nutrition assistance, health screenings, and educational resources.
