Acerca de este recurso

The Idaho Medical Reserve Corps can be reached at 208-799-3100, and the Public Health Information Line for Region 2 is available at 208-748-0400 or 1-866-736-6632. Idaho's seven health districts collaborate closely with the Department of Health and Welfare and various state and local organizations. Each district, overseen by a board of health appointed by county commissioners, operates independently of state agencies and tailors its services to meet local demands. These services may include community and home health nursing, environmental health, dental hygiene, and nutrition programs, often provided through contracts with the Department of Health and Welfare. For the latest information on local services, residents should contact their nearest District Health Department. The Public Health Preparedness and Communication Systems office works with the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare and other partners to develop a comprehensive statewide strategy for addressing bioterrorism and public health emergencies. Environmental Health programs focus on the intersection of human health with the physical environment and include inspections for daycares, epidemiology related to animal bites and foodborne illnesses, permits and inspections for food establishments, and various health programs addressing air quality, lead exposure, and public pools. Family Planning services encompass education, counseling, pregnancy testing, and comprehensive physical exams, with a range of birth control methods available. Local health departments also provide routine childhood vaccinations at health department clinics or special off-site events, often at low or no cost for those unable to pay. Adult vaccines and overseas immunizations are also available by appointment. The Immunization Registry helps track vaccinations for individuals and families. The WIC program offers nutritional support for women, infants, and children, providing healthy foods, health screenings, and nutrition education. The Women's Health Check program, funded federally, offers free breast and cervical cancer screenings for eligible women. For more information on services, individuals can call to inquire about locations and appointments.
