ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH: This encompasses programs that address the intersection of human health with the physical environment and the ecosystem. **Environmental Health Programs cover: Day Care Inspections; Epidemiology (Animal Bites, Food and Water Borne Illness); Food Establishments (Permits, Plan Reviews, Inspections); Indoor Air Quality (Radon); Lead Health Program; Methamphetamine Labs; Public Pools; Solid Waste.** Land Development initiatives include: Critical Materials Regulation; Mortgage Surveys; Non-Domestic Waste Water; Public Water Systems; Rathdrum Aquifer Protection; Shallow Injection Well Inventory; Subdivision Review; Subsurface Sewage (Site Evaluations, Permits, Inspections). IMMUNIZATIONS: Local health departments provide routine childhood vaccinations through health department clinics or special off-site events. These vaccinations are often low-cost or free for parents who cannot afford them. Adult vaccines, including Td boosters, hepatitis B, hepatitis A, pneumonia, and influenza, may also be offered.
