Head Start (Rexburg)

Head Start is a nationwide preschool initiative designed for children from families that meet income eligibility criteria. These centers are operated by local nonprofit organizations across the country. The program accepts applications for children aged 3 to 5 years from families whose income falls below poverty guidelines, as well as children with special needs or those at high risk. A limited number of over-income children with special needs may also be accepted. The program provides assistance for medical, dental, educational, and social service needs at no cost. Required documentation includes proof of income, the child's birthdate, and immunization records. Supportive services offered by Head Start include social services, parent involvement, nutrition, mental health, health, education, and assistance for disabilities, along with a transportation voucher for medical and dental appointments. Head Start aims to enrich the lives of children, families, staff, and the community, providing support through quality education and family-centered services. The program operates five days a week for 3.5 hours each day, during which two meals are provided to the children.
