Head Start (Adm) - Wicap

Head Start is a national preschool initiative aimed at children from income-eligible families, operated by local nonprofit organizations across the country. The program accepts applications from pregnant women and children aged 0-5, specifically targeting families whose income falls below poverty guidelines. It also accommodates children with special needs or those at high risk, with a limited number of spots available for over-income children with special needs. Services are provided at no cost and include assistance with medical, dental, educational, and social service requirements. Verification of income and the child's birth date is necessary. Head Start offers supportive services such as social services, parent involvement, nutrition, mental health, health, education, and disability support. The program enriches the lives of children, families, staff, and the community by providing quality education and family-centered services. It serves low-income children aged 0-5 years and includes meals and snacks for participants, with opportunities for parental volunteering and potential transportation services.
