Acerca de este recurso

The Medical Reserve Corps can be reached at 208-415-5180, and for swine flu inquiries, call 208-415-5299. Idaho comprises seven health districts that work closely with the Department of Health and Welfare and various state and local organizations. Each district operates independently, addressing local requirements with services that differ by area, including community health nursing, home health nursing, environmental health, dental hygiene, and nutrition programs. Many of these services are offered through contracts with the Department of Health and Welfare. For the most current information about local services, contact your nearest District Health Department. The Public Health Preparedness and Communication Systems office collaborates with the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare, other public health districts, healthcare providers, and emergency responders to develop a unified statewide strategy for bioterrorism preparedness and public health emergencies. Environmental Health programs focus on the relationship between human health and the environment, covering areas such as daycare, epidemiology (animal bites, food, and waterborne illnesses), food establishment inspections, indoor air quality (radon), lead health, methamphetamine labs, public pools, and solid waste management. Land Development programs address critical materials regulation, mortgage surveys, non-domestic wastewater, public water systems, Rathdrum Aquifer protection, shallow injection well inventory, subdivision reviews, and subsurface sewage evaluations. Family Planning services include education, counseling, pregnancy testing, comprehensive physical exams (with cancer and STD screenings), and referrals, offering various birth control methods. Educational materials and speakers are also available for community events. Local health departments provide routine childhood vaccinations at health department clinics or special off-site clinics, often at low or no cost for families in need. Overseas immunizations are available by appointment, and travelers should contact their local health department for required vaccines. Adult vaccines such as Td boosters, hepatitis B, hepatitis A, pneumonia, and influenza may also be offered. The Immunization Registry is a free, voluntary service that helps individuals track their immunizations. The WIC (Women, Infants, and Children) program provides monthly healthy food vouchers, health screenings, nutrition classes, community program information, and individual counseling with registered dietitians. WIC serves pregnant women, breastfeeding women (up to one year postpartum), infants, and children under five. The Women's Health Check program offers free breast and cervical cancer screenings for eligible women without insurance coverage for these tests, meeting specific income guidelines and age criteria. Languages available include English, with interpreters accessible. For general information, locations, and appointments, please call.
