Head Start (Driggs)

Head Start is a national preschool initiative aimed at children from families that qualify based on income. Local nonprofit organizations operate Head Start centers across the country. The program accepts applications for children aged 3 to 5 years. Eligible families must have an income below the poverty line, and children should be 3 years old by September 1. The program also accommodates children with special needs or those considered at high risk, with a limited number of spots for over-income children with special needs. Services provided include assistance with medical, dental, educational, and social needs, all at no cost. Families must provide proof of income, the child's birth date, and immunization records. Head Start offers various supportive services such as social services, parent involvement, nutrition, mental health, health, education, and support for disabilities, along with medical and dental transportation vouchers. The program enriches the lives of children, families, staff, and the community, addressing life's challenges through quality education and family-centered services. It is available for low-income children aged 3 to 5 years, operating a four-day week program lasting 3.5 hours each day, during which two meals are provided.
