Fraud Investigations - Region 5

The Welfare Fraud Investigation Unit is responsible for investigating all clients and non-Medicaid providers who obtain public assistance funds as either clients or service providers. These investigations often start due to complaints from the public or program staff and may result in identifying overpayments, intentional violations of the program, or legal action. To report suspected fraud, you can choose from several options: Online by visiting the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare's website and going to the 'Report Fraud' section; by phone at the Public Assistance Fraud Hotline at 866-935-7515, where calls are answered by the 2-1-1 Idaho CareLine from Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. (Mountain Time), with after-hours calls going to voicemail; or via email by sending your inquiries or reports to Questions@dhw.idaho.gov.
