La Posada Tax Clinic operates throughout the year, offering a range of tax services such as free tax preparation for low-income individuals, assistance with prior year tax returns, and support for current year returns that were not submitted by the April 15 deadline. They also provide help for low-income taxpayers facing tax payments, explain tax letters and notices, assist individuals in responding to them, and help obtain individual tax identification numbers for those ineligible for social security numbers. The clinic educates clients about their rights and responsibilities as taxpayers, offers assistance during IRS audits and examinations, requests Innocent Spouse Relief, files Injured Spouse Claims, appeals denials of the Earned Income Tax Credit, contests other changes made by the IRS to tax returns, works to stop tax liens and levies, and provides legal assistance for those needing to appear in Tax Court. Services are available in both English and Spanish.
