The Public Health Preparedness office collaborates with the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare, other public health districts, healthcare providers, and emergency responders to develop a unified statewide strategy for preparing for and responding to bioterrorism and other public health crises. ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH programs focus on the intersection of human health with the physical environment and the ecosystem. **These programs cover: Day Care; Epidemiology (Animal Bites, Food and Water Borne Illness); Food Establishments (Permits, Plan Reviews, Inspections); and Public Pools.** Land Development Programs encompass: Mortgage Surveys; Public Water Systems; Subdivision Review; and Subsurface Sewage (Site Evaluations, Permits, Inspections). The Immunization Registry is a free, confidential service that helps families track immunizations and ensure they receive necessary vaccines. WIC (WOMEN, INFANTS AND CHILDREN) PROGRAM: WIC offers a supplemental nutrition program providing healthy foods, health screenings, nutrition classes, community program information, individual counseling with registered dietitians, breastfeeding support, and educational materials. WIC serves pregnant women, breastfeeding women up to one year postpartum, non-nursing women up to six months postpartum, infants up to one year, and children under five. WOMEN'S HEALTH CHECK is a federally funded initiative providing free breast and cervical cancer screenings for eligible women without insurance covering these tests. Eligibility includes women aged 50-64, those aged 40-49 who haven't had a pap test in five years or longer, or those with breast cancer symptoms (with clinician approval), as well as women aged 30-39 with cervical cancer symptoms confirmed by a healthcare provider.
