Desert Parkway Behavioral Healthcare Hospital

The Specialized Needs Unit offers a range of services tailored to youth aged 8 to 17 who have an acute mental health diagnosis, particularly those on the Autism Spectrum or with developmental, intellectual, congenital, or acquired disorders. This program is suitable for individuals who exhibit: *A diverse array of psychiatric conditions *A relevant diagnosis related to the Autism Spectrum and/or Intellectual Disorders *Intellectual challenges leading to psychological and/or behavioral difficulties *Potential risk of harm to themselves or others *Significant impairment in functioning due to their disorder, which substantially disrupts daily life, including social, family, educational, or work-related activities, as well as self-care. *Must be ambulatory and, if there are any medical issues, they should be stabilized. (It’s important to note that the same standard ambulation and medical criteria that apply to a standalone behavioral health hospital are also relevant for the SNU). Available languages include Spanish and English.
