To utilize the food pantry, a referral from a human service agency is mandatory. You can obtain this referral by calling 2-1-1 or 1-800-901-2180 during business hours, which are from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday. The program offers emergency food assistance through various food pantries across Broome County, providing boxed and canned goods to ensure 3 nutritious meals daily for 5 days, along with fresh produce when available. Additionally, formula is accessible at the CHOW warehouse by appointment, contingent upon an approved referral from WIC. Clients seeking food or formula must provide personal information, including names, birth dates, and addresses for all household members. Under normal circumstances, individuals may use the food pantry up to 12 times a year, with referrals accepted at two-week intervals.
