Hearts and Hands operates as a volunteer-based non-profit, delivering complimentary escorted transportation, companionship, and home support to seniors in Erie and Eastern Niagara Counties. Many of our clients have ceased driving due to age-related health issues or financial constraints. They may also seek help with minor yard work, home maintenance, or companionship to alleviate caregiver fatigue. Our elderly neighbors frequently experience loneliness and isolation, making friendly interaction essential. Following insights from a recent community evaluation and a national report from AARP, Hearts and Hands has tailored its services to combat social isolation through transportation, household assistance, and companionship. For some of our care recipients, volunteers may be the only visitors they have throughout the week, making their presence a significant source of joy. Hearts and Hands functions on a best-efforts basis, with services provided by volunteers as their schedules allow. Eligibility criteria for the Hearts & Hands service program include older adults aged 60 and above and individuals with disabilities, covering areas across Erie County and Eastern Niagara County.
