University At Buffalo Educational Opportunity Center (Ubeoc)

UBEOC provides a range of academic, vocational, and career services tailored for the residents of Western New York. Students can choose from more than 20 programs available during the day, evening, and some weekends. In addition to the academic and vocational offerings, UBEOC features specialized learning community programs such as ATTAIN (Advanced Technology Training and Information Networking). The ATTAIN lab serves as an open computer facility that provides academic, occupational, and employability courses utilizing technology. Available programs include: Academic & TASC Preparation (Mathematics, Reading, Writing, Science, Social Studies, English as a Second Language / ESL), Certifications (Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS), Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA), Intuit QuickBooks Certification), Career Exploration (Nursing Assistant, Home Care, Child Care, Customer Service, Office Skills, Typing Skills, Carpentry, Electrical, Plumbing, Building Maintenance, Security Guard), and Computer Literacy (Microsoft Digital Literacy).

Intake Procedure: Interested individuals should complete an application either in person or online; for inquiries, contact 716-645-1900. A placement test is mandatory. Applicants must submit the following: Proof of income (budget sheet for public assistance, award letter for Social Security, 1040 form for previous years' taxes, or proof of unemployment benefits) and proof of residency (driver's license/non-driver's license, voter registration card, school ID, or bus pass). Non-U.S. citizens must also provide proof of immigration status (Form I-94, green card/permanent resident card).

Fees: There is no tuition charge.
