This initiative offers temporary aid to individuals and families in need as they pursue self-sufficiency. It can assist with either a security deposit or the first month's rent, but not both simultaneously. Additionally, it is responsible for funding and coordinating burials for Hamilton County residents who pass away without financial resources or family to handle the arrangements. Family Assistance (FA) offers financial support to families with children, with cash benefits capped at five years per recipient's lifetime. After this period, a Family Assistance case may continue to receive support if an adult is disabled and unable to work, or they may need to seek help through the Safety Net category. Safety Net Assistance (SNA) provides financial aid for basic living costs to single adults and childless couples, or families that have exhausted their five-year FA limit. Cash benefits under SNA are restricted to two years in a recipient's lifetime. Following the two-year mark, a non-cash Safety Net Assistance voucher system is available. Emergency Temporary Assistance through Emergency Assistance for Families (EAF) or Emergency Safety Net Assistance (ESNA) offers support in crisis situations such as evictions, moving costs, utility shutoffs, food expenses, and diversion payments to help individuals avoid needing ongoing assistance. Individuals do not need to be enrolled in public assistance to qualify for Emergency Temporary Assistance.
