As a Fiscal Intermediary, this initiative fosters independence for individuals with developmental disabilities by enabling them to formulate and oversee their own budgets, recruit their own support staff, and participate in activities that improve their capacity to live and work within the community. It offers choices in care management, including: Employer authority for hiring, managing, and terminating staff; Budget authority that allows for a customizable budget to acquire necessary supports and services for independent living; Opportunities for daily engagement such as paid or volunteer work, ongoing education, and recreational activities; Support from family, friends, coworkers, and staff; Decisions regarding living arrangements and daily routines like meal times and sleep schedules.
